Jesus remains the only person in history to have ever achieved or sustained a widespread following as being the Messiah who was promised by the prophets of the Old Testament.
This book, Jesus the Messiah, explains the reasons for this.
The prophets of the Old Testament predicted a savior, called the Messiah, an extraordinary individual who would offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
For many generations, God gave prophetic insights to his prophets in Israel. And for many generations, these prophets recorded their prophecies in the pages of the Old Testament.
These prophecies revealed many details that would allow people to identify, recognize and understand the Messiah, once he arrived.
These prophecies foretold that the Messiah would be human and divine, that he would be born in Bethlehem, that he would arrive during the time of the Second Temple, that he would be an Israelite from tribe of Judah, and that he would achieve a worldwide spiritual impact.
These prophets began writing down these prophecies during the time of Moses, about 3,400 years ago. And they continued through the time of Malachi, about 2,400 years ago.
For nearly 1,000 years, they received from God many prophecies about the promised Messiah, and they recorded these predictions within the 39 books of the Old Testament.
And then they stopped.
They stopped everything. They stopped receiving prophecies from God. They stopped giving prophecies about the Messiah. And they stopped the writing of the Old Testament.
And then Jesus arrived.
Jesus arrived about 2,000 years ago and announced that he is the fulfillment of these prophecies in the Old Testament.
And today, some 2,000 years later, Jesus remains the only person, among the many billions who have ever lived, who has ever achieved or sustained a widespread following as being the promised Messiah.
This book, Jesus the Messiah, examines 50 Old Testament prophecies that foretold and foreshadowed the promised Messiah and explains how these prophecies are uniquely fulfilled by Jesus.
For every 10,000 people in the world today, only 1 lives in the city of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is by no means dominant for population, or for geographical size, but it serves as the origin for the largest religious event that the world has ever experienced -- the spread of Christianity.
Travel in any direction from Jerusalem, for any number of days, months, or years, and one will see the impact that originated in Jerusalem about 2,000 years ago.
Christian churches can be found in any direction, as Christianity is the majority religion for a majority of countries in the world today. The Christian Bible is the world’s most published and circulated book, with nearly one copy for every living person.
Christianity is the most followed religion in at least four of the world’s inhabitable continents, with a significant presence in the other two. There are even churches in Antarctica, where weather conditions are too harsh for permanent inhabitation.
There are cities and places throughout the world today that have been named after Jerusalem, including in Angola, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Ghana, Haiti, Liberia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Jamaica, South Africa, the United States, and Venezuela.
The spiritual impact of Jerusalem, as the origin for the spread of Christianity, is unmatched by any other place in the world. And the catalyst for this impact is the death and resurrection of Jesus about 2,000 years ago.
And that is why this book, Jesus the Messiah, exists, to explain how Jesus is the fulfillment of the many prophecies that predicted a Messiah who, among other things, would achieve a worldwide spiritual impact that would begin in Jerusalem.
