A solitary preacher traveled the land of Israel, some 2,000 years ago, with a stream of followers. He had no wealth, no title, and no army to command.
He relied upon the charity of others for food, water and shelter, as he trekked from town to town, preaching about kindness, forgiveness and salvation.
And, he had the power to heal.
He cured disease, gave sight to the blind, sound to the deaf, mobility to the lame, and freedom to those who had suffered from lifelong afflictions.
He walked on water, cast out demons, and brought dead people back to life.
The power of his miracles radiated far beyond the people he healed, transforming the lives of people who merely witnessed the healings, as well as those who had only heard about the miracles.
So profound was the impact of his miracles, that the impact itself has echoed through the centuries and into the present time.
He inspired his followers to do something that few people did in ancient times -- to become biographers, to write down a record of his teachings, his miracles, and other events of his ministry, to be handed down from generation to generation.
The miracle worker, of course, was Jesus of Nazareth. And his followers recorded the miracles in what is now the world’s most published and circulated book -- the Bible.
The writers of the four Gospels, which are a part of the New Testament of the Bible, provided accounts of 50 events in which Jesus performed miracles of healing and control over nature.
This book, Jesus the Miracle Worker, explains each of those miracles, providing context, insight and analysis for a fuller understanding of the one person, who, throughout all of history, is uniquely revered as a miracle worker.
The goal of this book, Jesus the Miracle Worker, is to provide a convenient and easy-to-read format for explaining each of the miracles that Jesus performed.
It can be surprisingly difficult to find a single resource that actually lists and explains each and all of his miracles, and that is why this book exists.
On May 28, 2021, the phrase, “miracles of Jesus,” was typed into a search engine, which returned 47 million results. A review of the first 100 results did not yield a single, complete listing of Jesus’ miracles, let alone a description for each of his miracles.
Many of those web pages focused on a few miracles, or offered an overview for a few dozen miracles. But none provided a complete list.
If a person simply wanted to know how many miracles Jesus had performed, or get information about each of those miracles, the first 100 search results would not have addressed either of those pursuits.
And, finding a book that focuses on each of the miracles of Jesus, as of May 28, 2021, was equally challenging.
Many books provide commentary for a selection of miracles, but they don’t identify all of the miracles, nor do they provide information for all of the miracles.
And while there are some resources that offer commentary for every verse of the Bible, finding and focusing on the commentary specific to Jesus’ miracles can be challenging and time consuming.
This book, Jesus the Miracle Worker, identifies and explains each of the 50 occasions in which Jesus performed miracles, in chronological order.
